HOME AUTOMATION

For some, home automation may be as simple as automatic control of a few lights. For others, security may be the central application. Still others may choose to install advanced controllers or use voice recognition. As a very basic definition, we tend to refer to home automation as anything that gives you remote or automatic control of things around the home. The picture on the right is of a BEI technician wiring an audio cabinet in a condominium near Hollywood and Vine.

Lighting is a great way to get involved with home automation. Create lighting moods, control multiple lights from a single switch, and automate the timing of indoor and outdoor lighting schemes. And in most cases re-wiring is not necessary. Contact us for details.

Home Security, Camera Systems, & Access Control - an automated home provides increased security by turning your entire house into an integrated security system. Have perimeters and emergency corridors flooded with light in the event of an alert status. Monitor non-traditional security events like water in the laundry room or basement. Monitor your home camera system over the web while at the office-you can even unlock the front door remotely to let friends in or to allow a package to be placed in the garage. And with home automation you can have the alarm trigger your lights to flash, or even play a warning signal through your home!
Home Theater & Entertainment - Just imagine replacing that pile of remotes with just one controller. Now, imagine pressing one button and the lights dim, the curtain in front of the screen slides away, and your equipment powers up. From simple family room entertainment nooks to dedicated home theaters, we strive to provide you with the best picture and sound possible in a simple, elegant footprint that compliments your home decor. Distributed Audio and in-wall Surround Sound systems are especially popular with homeowners. The picture at the top of this screen is of an actual BEI installation of a Control4 system.

Phone Systems - Usually used for small business applications, a new breed of phone system has become surprisingly convenient in the home. With caller ID and a home automation controller you can even screen your calls for only those you wish to cause your phone to ring. Voice control software turns every phone in your home into a remote controller.

Remote Control Thermostats - Adjust your home temperature from the bed at night or even from a cell phone while on your way home from work. Remote thermostats can also trigger a notice to you if the temperature gets too low (freezing pipes) or too high (causing risk to pets, plants, etc.).

Irrigation - Have your sprinklers turn on only when it's dry. Some of our customers even turn the sprinklers on when there's motion in the yard at unwanted times - imagine someone trying to explain the wet clothes to the police!

Networking - Tie the processing power of your home computers together to allow all family members the ability to share files easily, access the internet, or work together on school or home projects. At
BEI we installed wired home network systems and also install wireless access points to create a secure, wireless home network.
